Hi, Rob. Here's the low-down from Chuck Baker, NewTek BBS SysOp.
Amiga Version: Release Date: When it's done. unofficially, about 6-8
weeks, around the time the 4.1 Flyer should ship. Ther MIGHT be an Amiga
Pre-Release 4, too, but only if there's still a lot of time until the
final version is finished...
Previews: Sample Spheres WILL be in the Amiga version. John Gross said
in a LWPro editorial that the Amiga spheres render to your selected device
(HAM, Picasso, Toaster DV1), and on other platforms render vertically (as
opposed to horizontally on the Amiga) on Intel Platforms. My friend just
got LW Intel, and I LOVE the sample sheres. You get 5 or 6 (I forget...),
and everythime you click the RENDER sample button, the row moves up, and
the bottom on gets replaced with the new surface settings. The only other
thins I'd want are:
1) Change it to a cube or other shape and
2) Be able to click on "old" shperes and have it update your
current surface settings.
LW will be nearly identical on every platform, minus conventions of each
OS's special quirks. In fact, the only thing that WON'T be in the Amiga
version is the ability to change to color of your wireframes in Layout.
It is ridiculous not to put this on the Amiga -- all that would be needed
is AGA and CyberGraphics support. That's it. Ah, well... All we need now
is hidden line removal...
BTW, I think 68060 support won't be until LW 5, but what do I know...
Have no fear, the Amiga version hall be out before Summer ends. Have fun!
